Lesson plan on teaching 6th and 7th graders about the circulatory system

Grade Level(s): 6 & 7 Subject(s): Science and Math Duration: 20 minute introductory session Description: A 20 minute long lesson plan on teaching 6th and 7th graders about the circulatory system, where to find their pulse and how to take their pulse rate. Then, students will take a resting pulse rate for 10 seconds and document. For exercising pulse rate, the students will jog in place for 30 seconds, will take their pulse again, and document on worksheet. The students will learn how to calculate a pulse rate from a 10 second measurement. And finally, the students will take the two existing pulse rates and calculate their heart rate percent change. Materials: " a clock with a second hand " pencil " worksheets (circulatory system and calculations) " calculator " projector for power point presentation
